Support Aid for Veterans: Yellow Ribbon Program
The Columbia University School of General Studies is a proud participant in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Yellow Ribbon Program, which has allowed us to enroll over 430 veteran students for the 2016-2017 academic year. The scope of benefits provided by the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon Program make a Columbia education accessible to eligible veterans, regardless of socioeconomic status.
The Yellow Ribbon Program is a federal matching program that allows Columbia to supplement the basic benefit for tuition and fees provided by the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Our Yellow Ribbon contribution currently is $9,000 per eligible veteran, so the individual student veteran receives an additional $18,000 to help cover the cost of tuition and fees.
