Young Alumni Scholarship 2017 - 2018
What is the Young Alumni Scholarship?
The Young Alumni Scholarship is an opportunity for the Columbia College young alumni community (2008-2017) to make a tangible difference in the life of a current College student.
If 500 young alumni make a gift by 11:59 pm on October 18, 2017, Columbia Giving Day, a scholarship will be awarded to a current College student.
How will I know my contribution made a difference?
Once we reach 500 young alumni donors a new scholarship will be created and awarded to a College student.
In March 2018, you'll receive a profile of the student who your gift has helped and see the value of your investment in Columbia. Last year’s Young Alumni scholarship supported Iyobosa Bello-Asemota CC'19 and Jason Harden CC'20.
Young Alumni who give at the John Jay Associates level ($100 for every year since graduation) will be invited to the Dean’s Scholarship Reception in February 2018, where you will have the opportunity to meet the student who receives support from the Young Alumni Scholarship.
Why is this important?
Nearly 50 percent of Columbia students receive grants from Columbia and the average amount awarded is $52,073. Your gift allows Columbia to continue to be one of the few Universities in the country to meet 100% of a student’s demonstrated need through grants that do not need to be repaid.
